Counseling education and experience
I grew up in a small farming town in Wisconsin and obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology from UW-Madison. In 2008, I moved to Colorado and lived on the front range for 15 years. My career in the mental health field started with over a decade of experience serving individuals with severe and persistent mental health disorders, many of them unhoused and suffering from complex trauma. I mostly worked in residential/hospital-alternative settings, with my last few years providing therapy in an outpatient setting.
I started addiction counseling in 2018 as a Certified Addiction Counselor I, and my internship experience in graduate school was at an Addiction Recovery Center, running an intensive outpatient program. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Heath Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado in 2021, and I became a Licensed Addiction Counselor shortly after.
In 2023, I moved back to Wisconsin, this time settling near Lake Michigan. My experience living in different regions of the United States has provided me with the amazing opportunity to work with individuals from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses. I feel privileged to have heard so many folks' stories of strength and resilience and honored they let me into their world to walk alongside them in their growth.
In my free time, I enjoy playing sports and card games, camping and traveling, and spending time with my family. I appreciate live music, campfires, and nature walks. I live with my husband, our 2 sweet dogs, 2 friendly tortoises, and stoic bearded dragon (pictured below).
